Dwayne Johnson Slams ‘Candy Ass’ Male ‘Fast 8’ Co-Stars

Dwayne Johnson
Universal

Back when he was a full-time pro wrestler, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson built his reputation on his inspired mic work, and the inventive way he insulted his opponents. Guys who dared challenge his WWE supremacy were “jabronis” and “roody poo candy asses.” Said candy asses would face the wrath of a smackdown, verbal or otherwise. Johnson’d ask them a question like “What’s your name?” then interrupt before they could answer. (“It doesn’t matter what your name is!!”) Or he would tell them to grab something and stick it straight up their candy asses. (You may begin to sense a theme here.)

As the Rock, Johnson was the king of smack talk. But as a movie star, he’s cultivated an a 180 degree reversal of his public persona. This Dwayne Johnson is a gentle giant who loves to poke fun at his own image and doles out compliments and encouragement on social media. He’s one of the most likable guys in Hollywood. Everyone loves this guy.

But this guy does not love everyone who worked with him on he latest Fast & Furious movie (it’s #8 if you’ve lost count). And that old Rock persona, the trash-talking dude who loved to call people candy asses, returned in a Facebook post Johnson wrote to commemorate wrapping his latest turn as gruff DSS agent Luke Hobbs. The Rock said this:

This is my final week of shooting Fast & Furious 8. There’s no other franchise that gets my blood boiling more than this one. An incredible hard working crew. Universal Studios Entertainment has been great partners as well. My female co-stars are always amazing and I love ’em. My male co-stars however are a different story. Some conduct themselves as stand up men and true professionals, while others don’t. The ones that don’t are too chicken shit to do anything about it anyway. Candy asses. When you watch this movie next April and it seems like I’m not acting in some of these scenes and my blood is legit boiling – you’re right.

Bottom line is it’ll play great for the movie and fits this Hobbs character that’s embedded in my DNA extremely well. The producer in me is happy about this part. Final week on FAST 8 and I will finish strong. ‪#‎IcemanCometh‬ ‪#‎F8‬ ‪#‎ZeroToleranceForCandyAsses‬

In wrestling terms, it smells like Johnson has some legitimate “heat” with some of his male co-stars. (He has no issues with the ladies, because how could anyone take issue with Charlize Theron and Helen Mirren? That’s scientifically impossible.) But who? Maybe Johnson will reveal the source of his frustration before Fast 8 opens next spring, but until then this is the only thing I’m going to be thinking about. There have been rumors in the past of an on-set rivalry between Johnson and Vin Diesel; maybe they got into a fight over who looks better in a tank top? Jason Statham and the Rock had a pretty intense fight scene in Furious 7; could they have a renewed rivalry over who is the more impressive, hairless fighting machine?

I don’t know, but I do know that I hope Johnson never reveals the source of his anger, or the true identity of the asses made of candy. I want to watch Fast 8 and try to solve this mystery on my own, using clues like the amount of hatred in his eyes and sweat on his forearms. Fast 8 opens on April 14, 2017.
