Authorities are investigating a house fire that claimed the life of 28-year-old Lakendel Church. Tuscaloosa County sheriff's deputies, firefighters, and police responded to the home in the Holt community shortly after 2:00 Sunday afternoon.

The Tuscaloosa City Board of Education announces the Future Educators Scholarship for city schools' high school seniors who are planning to enter the teaching profession. Applications are available at the school counselors' office or from the system's website and are due by April 4.
