So one of the Things I wanted to be when I grew up was be a fireman, heck what kid growing up didn't have that feeling of rushing in and putting out fires, or riding on the back of Engine #1. Most Big cities are equipped with all the latest technology to deal with fires or to investigate fires.

But what about the smaller municipalities across the country, how do they deal with rising cost and lack of budget. It was brought to my attention of the city of Stonewall, right here in West Alabama. Robert Mallory is the President of the Stonewall Volunteer Fire Dept.

They are the only African American rural fire Dept. which is located in Fayette county. Note there are 18 fire departments in the county and all have a new fire truck or one that's a few years old, but on the other hand Stonewall hasn't had a replacement in 21 years. The truck only pumps from one side of the truck, they serve over 125 homes, 4 churches a community center and a group home, god forbid something seriously happen.

They literally have to beg a plead for funds to keep things rolling. I posted a picture of their situation there, I'll be checking back in with Stonewall later this week and will inform all those interested how they can make a donation to this worthy cause.
