68th Emmy Awards: Who’s Presenting, Who’s Nominated, When’s It On?
Sure signs autumn's looming: Pumpkin spice lattes suddenly abound, Staples has been wiped clean of three-ring binders and the Emmy Awards are just around the corner.
The 68th annual Emmys will air on ABC from the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles on Sunday, September 18 at 8 PM EST. Jimmy Kimmel, who hosted the 64th ceremony in 2012, will reprise his role, and Julia Louis-Dreyfus will go for a historic win with a possible (and likely) fifth award for her role as Selina Meyer on HBO's VEEP. With that trophy, she would earn the title of most wins ever in the Best Actress category and tie her with Don Knotts (Barney Fife on The Andy Griffith Show) and Ed Asner (Lou Grant in The Mary Tyler Moore Show and Lou Grant) for most wins as a single character.
Earlier today (September 1), Deadline announced the first wave of presenters for the show, which included nominees Aziz Ansari (Master of None), Anthony Anderson (Black-ish), Taraji P. Henson (Empire) and Liev Schreiber (Ray Donovan). Two-time winner for Modern Family Julie Bowen will also present, as will Kristen Bell, Priyanka Chopra, James Corden, Larry David, Andy Samberg and Michael Weatherly.
As of September 7, Laverne Cox, Tracee Ellis Ross, America Ferrera, Kit Harington, Matt LeBlanc, Joel McHale, Chris Rock, Jeffrey Tambor, Kerry Washington and Damon Wayans have also been added as presenters, according to Deadline.
And where nominees are concerned, VEEP, Game of Thrones and limited series The People v. O. J. Simpson: American Crime Story got the most love, while HBO was the most nominated network.
