Alabama 5-star quarterback commit from the 2022 class Ty Simpson joined Ryan Fowler on The Game last week to discuss his recruitment, his playing style, elite 11 camp and much more. The Crimson Tide commit was in Tuscaloosa last week as the NCAA rescinded the in-person recruiting dead period.

Simpson made his decision in February, shortly after the college football season wrapped up. The 6-foot-2, 185 pound quarterback out of Martin, TN chose Alabama over Clemson, Tennessee, Ole Miss and UT- Martin.

"It was a very tough decision for sure but also and easy decision of knowing what I was getting myself into. What really put it in perspective was writing my goals on a sheet of paper," said Simpson. "My goals were, winning a national championship, winning a Heisman and becoming a draft pick. I thought the best place to put me in that position and to have success was the University of Alabama and I knew 'ok that's where I need to go'."

The rising senior discussed his recruitment and said Alabama head coach Nick Saban used a familiar recruiting pitch. Saban used the same tactic he used on Alabama legend Julio Jones and promised him nothing but competition.

"That's kind of what attracted me to Alabama, there's no B.S. or lying, it's all competition and whoever's the best player will play."

Now that Simpson is the crown jewel of the Tide's 2022 recruiting class, he feels the responsibility to help recruit to fill out the remainder of the class. Simpson said he is constantly stoking relationships to ensure he has great talent around him.

"Heavily, I do that all the time. There's were some guys in town the other day when I was in town and we took them out to dinner. These guys are going to be my teammates and these are going to be the guys I rely on. I have to make sure that they know that I have their back and make sure they have mine," said Simpson.

And just how exactly is Simpson pitching his fellow 2022 recruits?

"It's kind of hard to compete against the best," said the 5-star quarterback.
