The University of Alabama will officially introduce the 2015 basketball season by holding a special Tide Tipoff event inside Coleman Coliseum with a special appearance by the hip hop duo Rae Sremmurd.

The fan-friendly event will begin at 6PM on Tuesday, October 27, and will give the Alabama fanbase an opportunity to meet this year's men's and women's basketball players and coaches.

“I am honored and excited about joining forces with our women’s basketball program for the 2015 Tide Tipoff event, which is our version of midnight madness,” men’s basketball head coach Avery Johnson said. “This event will be a fun-filled night with both teams participating in a variety of activities that will be sure to entertain all of our fans. The highlight of our night is going to be a performance by one of the hottest hip hop artists out there in Rae Sremmurd. There’s been a strong commitment to University of Alabama men’s and women’s basketball programs by the administration and we’re thrilled to have all of our students, season ticket holders and faculty and staff invited to attend this exclusive event. All I want to say is Roll Tide and Buckle Up!”

If you aren't familiar with the name of the hip hop duo, you've probably heard one of their most popular songs because it has become a staple at Alabama football games. Does 'No Flex Zone' sound familiar?

The event will begin with a 45-minute autograph session followed by team introductions and skills competitions. This year will also feature a dunk competition with celebrity judges.

“We are really looking forward to teaming up with the men’s team for this event to give our students, season ticket holders and faculty and staff a sneak peak of what is to come this season,” said women’s basketball head coach Kristy Curry. “There is so much buzz surrounding basketball at Alabama right now, and we cannot wait for this night to get everyone even more energized. You better buckle up because it’s going to be exciting!”

Seating will be on a first come, first serve basis but you have to be a student, faculty, staff or a season ticket holder in any Alabama sport. For more info on ticketing at the Tide Tipoff event, visit
