Alabama Defender Announces Transfer Destination
Former Crimson Tide defensive lineman Stephon Wynn officially announced his transfer destination on Twitter this week, becoming the 18th player from last year's team to transfer away this offseason.
Wynn is set to suit up next fall for the Nebraska Cornhuskers, joining fellow Tide transfer Kaine Williams in Lincoln.
Wynn, who enters his fifth season of college football in 2022, joined the Crimson Tide in 2018 as a four-star prospect from South Carolina.
In his freshman season, the 6-foot-4, 308 lb. wrecking ball was unable to find a consistent role within the rotation, appearing in just three games and being handed a redshirt. As a sophomore, Wynn worked his way up the depth chart more, but was again unable to find consistent playing time, posting just seven tackles in nine appearances.
In his junior and senior seasons, the Anderson, SC native remained as a deep piece of the defensive line rotation, notching just nine appearances and only six tackles.
Moving into a much less competitive defensive line unit at Nebraska, Wynn will likely have a good opportunity to compete for a starting role. The Cornhuskers lost several defensive linemen this offseason whether it be to the NFL, transfer portal etc. and are looking to replace a lot of production from last season.
