Alabama Drivers Like This Put Our Kids in Danger
This might not be very kind, but anyone who puts lives in danger -- especially the lives of children and the elderly -- is NO! FRIEND! OF! MINE!

The other day, I couldn’t believe what I witnessed. It might be small to you but it truly showcases the number of distracted drivers we have in Alabama.
Just in case you don’t know, there are laws about driving and being on the road with school buses. Please know how you are supposed to handle your driving when a school bus is STOPPED to let the children off.
Passing a school bus illegally is a grave danger to both children and other road users. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) says it is against the law in every state to overtake a school bus when its stop arm is extended and the red lights are flashing.

A school bus was at a complete STOP with the STOP sign extended out.
The next thing you know, this dude came flying past the school bus.
It was pretty clear to stop because everyone followed the safety rules.
But, oh no, as my dad would say, he had “ants in his pants.”
All the other drivers just looked at each other with an expression of “Did that just really happen?”
It did and I’m upset.
Every day, countless students rely on school buses for transportation. School buses are considered one of the safest modes of travel on the road. In fact, less than 1% of all traffic-related fatalities involve children aboard school buses. Nonetheless, it is crucial for everyone - drivers, parents, and students alike - to be well-versed in school bus safety, particularly when it comes to approaching or departing from a school bus, the NHTSA says.
Children's of Alabama explains the rules pretty clearly.
