West Alabama residents can expect “scattered showers and thunderstorms through Monday,” said the National Weather Service in Birmingham. For today, Sunday, May 31, “the chance of any one spot seeing a shower is 50 to 60%,” said James Spann, Alabama Weather Network Chief Meteorologist.

Risk Level and Areas

The Townsquare Media Weather Center is monitoring the potential for strong-to-severe storms on Monday, June 1. The Storm Prediction Center has a good portion of Alabama under a “Marginal Risk,” a level 1 out of 5.

This marginal risk includes the entire Townsquare Media coverage area, which includes Bibb, Fayette, Greene, Hale, Lamar, Perry, Pickens, Sumter, Tuscaloosa, and Walker counties.

The current outlook for the timing of the incoming active weather is for the afternoon through the evening hours.

Using data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics (released in April 2020), we analyzed the average price for a gallon of unleaded regular gasoline from 1976 to 2020 along with the Consumer Price Index (CPI) for unleaded regular gasoline from 1937 to 1976, including the absolute and inflation-adjusted prices for each year.
