Alabama Linebacker Enters Transfer Portal
The Alabama Crimson Tide had an unplanned BYE week worked into its schedule this week after the SEC postponed its game with the LSU Tigers. According to Matt Zenitz of AL.com, Alabama redshirt freshman outside linebacker Kevin Harris has entered the transfer portal. Harris has not seen playing time for the Crimson Tide yet in his career.
Harris was a 4-star outside linebacker, standing 6-foot-4 and was the No. 15 ranked recruit in the state of Georgia in the class of 2019. He chose Alabama over Arkansas, Auburn, Clemson and Miami.
Alabama has played Chris Allen, Will Anderson, Ben Davis and Drew Sanders at outside linebacker this season. Anderson and Sanders are two highly regarded freshmen, limiting potential future opportunities for a loaded position group.
The Crimson Tide defense has seen improvement over the last three weeks and will have to continue to improve without Harris on the team. Allen has 20 tackles with six for a loss and two sacks on the season along with two quarterback hurries this season. Anderson has 22 tackles with three for a loss and four quarterback hurries this season. Sanders is another 5-star freshman and Davis is a fan favorite clogging up opportunities for playing time this season.
Harris will likely be able to transfer and be eligible to play in 2021 due to the NCAA declaring this season to not count against an athlete's eligibility.
