Alabama Man’s Bigfoot Sighting Prank Gets National Media Coverage
Kenny Walker from Mobile Alabama has proven fake news is alive and well. His April fool's joke has not only gone viral but has received national news coverage. From newspapers to TV stations to other radio stations his story has been picked up nationwide. You may have seen these photos.
Kenny decided to post a story about spotting Bigfoot. Then the area sheriff's office got in on the fun.
Kenny Walker never realized how far his fabricated story would actually go. He was actually shocked. Kenny said, "There must not be any laws against fake news".
The Tennessee Valley River news asked, " Did Bigfoot get spotted in South Alabama".
Then Reddit said, "Was Bigfoot spotted at Big Creek Lake in Wilmer, Alabama".
Then KPEL 96.5 said, "Someone believes they just spotted bigfoot by a lake in Alabama".
The truth is it was all an April fool's prank. Even after telling some of these news outlets, they ran with the story. Some didn't even bother to ask any questions.
The moral of the story is don't trust everything you read or hear on the news. #fakenews
Kenny Walker said, "It was all intended to be an April fools joke in my hometown of Wilmer, Alabama. I posted the pictures that have been circling the internet for years. The photos do have similarities to Big Creek Lake here in Mobile, Alabama. The story went way further than I had expected. Multiple radio stations throughout many states and news reporters ran with the story. I’m a prime example that news stations and reporters can and will run a fake story without checking the authenticity or validating that the story is even true or not. We see it every day on our phones and televisions. I want to apologize to my hometown police department (MCSO) and the citizens of Mobile County for wasting their time. Especially, I want to apologize to anyone that was led to believe this story. It is not true. There is no bigfoot on big creek lake. Please make America great again."
Kenny Walker was live with Steve and DC on 953 The Bear. Here is the audio.
