Junior pitcher Connor Shamblin announced via Twitter that he will be leaving the Crimson Tide and playing at Memphis for his senior year. Shamblin is originally from Lakeland, Tennessee, so he will be closer to home as he finishes his college baseball career.

Shamblin is now the third Alabama Baseball player to transfer after they fell short in the Ruston Regional against Louisiana Tech. He joins TJ Reeves and Will Patota in leaving the program.

Shamblin played a crucial role for the Crimson Tide pitching staff throughout the 2021 season. He was third-day starter in many series, and he also made a huge impact as a middle reliever. He finished the season with 46 innings pitched and 44 strikeouts. Shamblin had an ERA of 4.70 and a record of 4-2.

Over his entire career, Shamblin pitched 89 innings in Crimson and White. He gave a lot to the Alabama baseball program, and he is one of the reasons that the team is headed in a positive direction.

Shamblin's roommate, closer Chase Lee, will likely end up in a Major League system after the draft next month. It makes sense that Shamblin would feel called to go somewhere that he can showcase his talents more and be closer to home.

Shamblin will be entering a Memphis program that struggled this past year going 19-39 in 2021. He will give them a strong arm to lean on next season.

Best of luck, Connor!
