Dance is an important function of life. Not only is it a creative outlet, but it burns calories. Growing up, I took tap and ballet. I enjoyed the shuffle shuffle step step of tap dancing. However, music was more of my calling.

A friend told me that dance is a feeling of “freedom” for her. Some say dancing is an escape. I say just let the music move you.  The Hobby Lark gives us seven reasons to dance.

Dancing allows one to express oneself.

A sense of community is found within the dance.

Dancing provides physical/mental refreshment and relaxation.

Laughter and fun—dancing can provide a lot of entertainment.

Dancing is a form of exercise.

Dancers find inspiration and motivation as they become lost in the dance.

Dancing allows professional dancers to form affiliations.
