Robinson's departure hurts the Alabama running back room but it will still be one of the strongest position groups on the team in 2021. The Tide brings back Brian Robinson, Roydell Williams, Jase Mcclellan and Trey Sanders while also welcoming 5-star freshman Camar Wheaton.

Robinson appeared in eight games in 2019 as a freshman running for 254 yards and two touchdowns on 39 carries. Robinson's two scores came on a 74-yard and 46-yard run, lending credence to Saban's confidence in his speed.

The speedster was a 4-star prospect out of Washington D.C. and came from the same high school as former Alabama outside linebacker Terrell Lewis. The nation's No. 15 running back decided to come to Alabama over Arizona, Georgia, Mississippi State and USC.

While scholarship numbers can be manipulated, Robinson's departure should put the Crimson Tide at 88 scholarship athletes for the 2021 season. Alabama would need three more players to depart from the Capstone before the season starts to get to the NCAA scholarship limit of 85.

Robinson's age and experience with the nation's top program the last two seasons will make him a coveted talent in this year's transfer portal.
