Alabama Saturday Outlook Includes Thunderstorms, Strong Winds
Saturday Timing and Threats
This afternoon into the evening roughly between 2 p.m. and 9 p.m. there is the potential for scattered to numerous thunderstorms. Some of these storms could become “strong to severe and capable of producing damaging wind gusts across western portions of the area,” said the National Weather Service in Birmingham.
Risk Areas
For Saturday there is a “Marginal Risk” for areas west of I-65 and North of U.S. 80. This includes the entire Townsquare Media coverage area which includes Bibb, Fayette, Greene, Hale, Lamar, Perry, Pickens, Sumter, Tuscaloosa, and Walker counties.
James Spann, ABC 33/40, and Townsquare Media Tuscaloosa Chief Meteorologist said that the “weekend won't be a total wash-out, and the sky will be sunny at times. But just watch radar trends and pay attention to severe thunderstorm warnings if they are needed.”
Sunday Outlook
We are closely monitoring the possibility of damaging winds and hail for Sunday afternoon into the evening. Currently, Central Alabama under a “Slight Risk” area.
