Alabama Scheduled For Afternoon Kickoff Against Tennessee
The Southeastern Conference announced Saturday that Alabama's Oct. 24 home game against Tennessee will kickoff at 2:30 p.m. CT on CBS.
CBS exercised a six-day option last Monday to decide between picking up Tennessee at Alabama or Texas A&M at Ole Miss next week. Because the Crimson Tide beat the Aggies and Ole Miss fell to Memphis on Saturday, CBS elected to televise Alabama-Tennessee.
The SEC tweeted an announcement of the decision moments after Alabama's 41-23 victory at Texas A&M on Saturday.
If CBS opted for Texas A&M-Ole Miss, Alabama-Tennessee would have been played on ESPN at 6 p.m. CT.
Alabama (6-1, 3-1) has won eight straight in its annual rivalry game against Tennessee known as the "Third Saturday in October." On the field, the Crimson Tide leads the all-time series, 52-37-8.
Tennessee (3-3, 1-2) had their bye week Saturday. In their most recent game a week earlier, the Volunteers upset Georgia, 38-31, in Knoxville.
Verne Lundquist and Gary Danielson will call the game for CBS, with Allie LaForce on the sidelines.
