A significant adjustment has been made with the timing of the incoming system. Now, these storms arrive much earlier. The overall threat window is from today at 1 p.m. through Thursday at 6 a.m.

West Alabama Timing

Bibb: 3 p.m. – Midnight

Fayette: 1 p.m. – 7 p.m.

Greene: 3 p.m. – Midnight

Hale: 3 p.m. – Midnight

Lamar: 1 p.m. – 7 p.m.

Perry: 3 p.m. – Midnight

Pickens: 3 p.m. – Midnight

Sumter: 3 p.m. – Midnight

Tuscaloosa: 3 p.m. – Midnight

Walker: 1 p.m. – Midnight

The Storm Prediction Center has the entire state of Alabama at some level of risk, levels 1, 2, and 3 out of 5.

West Alabama Risk Zones

Bibb: Level 3 out of 5

Possible Threats

“Threats include tornadoes, damaging wind gusts, and hail up to quarter-size,” said the National Weather Service in Birmingham. In addition, “there is a risk of isolated to scattered occurrences of flash flooding tonight to early Thursday morning.”

James Spann, the Alabama Weather Network Chief Meteorologist, said, “The main risk of tornadoes is in the "enhanced risk" area across the central and southwest counties this afternoon and tonight.”
