
Alabama Severe Storm Threat: Timeline, Threats, & Risk Areas
Alabama is facing several days of potential strong-to-severe storms. The Townsquare Media Weather Center is monitoring conditions for Friday, April 24; Saturday, April 25; Monday, April 27; Tuesday, April 28; and the possibility for Thursday, April 30.
Friday into Saturday Overview

“There is a level 1 out of 5 (Marginal Risk) for severe thunderstorms from Friday afternoon through Saturday morning across the western portions of Central Alabama,” said the National Weather Service in Birmingham.

Potential Threats
Damaging Winds with Gusts up to 60 mph
Large Hail up to a Quarter-size
James Spann, Alabama Weather Network Chief Meteorologist, said that “Storms could produce strong, gusty winds as they initially move into West Alabama tomorrow night, but the overall threat of severe storms is relatively low.”
Looking Ahead
We are still several days away from the potential severe weather action for Monday into Tuesday. Also, some data indicates some additional threats next week.
Monday into Tuesday Highlights
We are monitoring the potential for severe weather from Monday night into Tuesday morning. “The Storm Prediction Center continues to trim the severe weather risk for Alabama Monday night, but now just the northwest corner of the state is included,” said James Spann, Alabama Weather Network Chief Meteorologist.
Later Next Week
Later in the week, data indicates an additional threat of strong-to-severe storms. However, it is very early in the forecasting process, but information points to Thursday, April 30.
