‘Bad Boys for Life’ Is a Go! Film Finally Gets a Release Date
After years of production delays, it looks like the long-awaited third installment of the Bad Boys franchise will finally happen.
Shadow and Act reports that Will Smith and Martin Lawrence will reprise their roles as Miami cops Mike Lowrey and Marcus Burnett in the third installment tentatively titled Bad Boys for Life.
The film, which will be directed by Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah, and produced by Jerry Bruckheimer, is scheduled to arrive in theaters on January 17, 2020.
Not much is known about the two Netherland directors, but they certainly have an eye for flashy, violent, and dizzying visuals as seen in the trailer for their 2018 flick, Gangsta (aka Patser).
As for the plot summary for Bad Boys for Life, it reads (via Hashtag Show):
The film will see Lawrence’s character, Marcus Burnett, working as a private eye after a falling out with Smith’s Mike Lowery, who is going through a midlife crisis as a bachelor who finally wants to mature, all while dealing with a new, young and cocky partner who is loyal to Lowery but that loyalty is not reciprocated, and finds bond with Burnett when he returns to the fray. Lowery and Burnett are brought together again when a lean, mean, skilled, Albanian mercenary with a vendetta puts a death order on Lowery and Burnett for the death of his brother. Now the two must work together once again to bring him down.
That sounds interesting enough. There's no word if Gabrielle Union will return to reprise her Bad Boys II character Special Agent Sydney “Syd” Burnett, Lowery's love interest in that movie.
Nevertheless, Union will star in a Bad Boy spinoff of her Sydney character for NBC and is expected to get picked up for a full season run.
