Bama fans will be arriving soon in Lexington, Kentucky, to cheer on the Alabama Crimson Tide to another victory. The University of Alabama meets the University of Kentucky at Kroger Field this Saturday, September 12.

Lexington sits in the heart of Kentucky's Bluegrass region and is also known as the “Horse Capital of the World.” The rolling countryside views will be something to check out, and don’t forget about the Kentucky Bourbon.

Breakfast

Wild Eggs Lexington

3735 Palomar Centre Drive, 40513

You can’t go wrong with Wild Eggs as your breakfast stop. The menu is packed and creative, with plenty of delicious options, so I recommend checking it out online before you go. Here are the top three dishes my Kentucky family recommends.

Kelsey KY Brown

Award-winning. Toasted sourdough, roasted turkey, applewood smoked bacon, diced tomato, white cheddar mornay, a fried egg, and smoked paprika.

Farmer’s Market Skillet

“Bell pepper, onion, zucchini, yellow squash, wild mushrooms, home fries, broccoli, oven-roasted tomato, melted cheddar jack cheese, two basted eggs, and an Everything muffin.”

The Mad Platter

“Three eggs cooked your way with bacon, sausage, home fries or stone-ground grits, your choice of bread, and a large buttermilk pancake.”

Bonus

House-Made Cinnamon Roll

“Cinnamon roll filled with butter, brown sugar, and cinnamon, baked in a cast-iron skillet and topped with sweet vanilla bean icing.”

Lunch

Joe Bologna's

My boss said that Joe Bologna's is not to be missed. Period.

It’s located at 120 W Maxwell St, 40508, and be sure to plan ahead because it is the “must-try” pizza in Lexington.

Several of my radio friends made these top three recommendations for your visit.

Breadsticks

One person in the group chat said, “Do NOT skip the garlic breadsticks.”

For Pizza:

The group chat was divided on the top pick: Joe B’s Meats “Sliced Meatballs, Pepperoni, Bacon, Salami, Sausage & Capicola Ham. Topped With Pizza Sauce & Mozzarella Cheese.” And the other favorite was the Supreme Sicilian.

For Sandwiches:

The group chat split again: half picked Joe B’s Stromboli Sub, which has “sausage and a ground beef patty topped with pizza sauce, grilled onions, green peppers, and provolone cheese.” Then another chat favorite was the Italian Sub, which is “a great combination of capicola ham, salami, pepperoni, mortadella, provolone cheese, lettuce, tomato, onion, and house Italian dressing served hot or cold.”

Bonus

Get the Cannoli, and get two, not one.

Dinner

Jeff Ruby’s Steakhouse

101 W Vine St, 40507

This is another bossman recommendation that was backed by my KY family. It is a fine-dining experience; they offer a range of specialties, including U.S.D.A. Prime steaks, wine lists, and beautiful décor. You will be impressed.

My cousin recommended the Bourbon Filet, which has an “8 oz Filet Mignon, Chive Potato Purée, Bourbon Garlic Shrimp, and Crispy Onions.”

She also recommended that if you have a decent-sized group, order each of the signature sides: Jeff Ruby’s Macaroni and Cheese, Grilled Asparagus, Brussels Sprouts, Roasted Mushrooms, Classic Creamed Spinach, and Truffle Creamed Corn.

My Uncle said to save room for dessert; Wildcat Cake and Three Layer Carrot Cake are his top choices.

Top Three Attractions

The Arboretum, State Botanical Garden of Kentucky

  • It’s a 100-acre public garden on the University of Kentucky campus.

Kentucky Horse Park

  • “Visitors and exhibitors will have diverse opportunities to engage with, learn about, and be enchanted by the beauty, strength, and spirit of the horse.”

The Distillery District

  • A great walkable entertainment area that features different distilleries and is built around the James E. Peper Distillery.

Enjoy the weekend and, of course, ROLL TIDE!
