The National Weather Service in Birmingham has updated information for portions of Alabama due to the expected dangerously cold wind chill values.

Alabamians are encouraged to take extra precautions during this time.

“Wind chills ranging from the near zero to 12 degrees below zero. Hypothermia or frostbite could result if adequate precautions are not taken,” said the National Weather Service in Birmingham.

Wind Chill Warning

Friday, December 23 starting at 12:00 a.m. until Friday, December 23 starting at 12:00 p.m.

The Wind Chill Warning includes the following counties: Blount, Cherokee, Etowah, Fayette, Jefferson, Lamar, Marion, St. Clair, Walker, and Winston.

Please note that the Wind Chill Watch will then impact the whole area from Friday night through Saturday morning.

Wind Chill Advisory

Friday, December 23 starting at 12:00 a.m. until Saturday, December 24, 12:00 p.m.

The Wind Chill Advisory includes the following counties: Autauga, Barbour, Bullock, Bibb, Calhoun, Chambers, Chilton, Clay, Cleburne, Coosa, Dallas, Elmore, Greene, Hale, Lee, Lowndes, Macon, Marengo, Montgomery, Perry, Pickens, Pike, Randolph, Russell, Shelby, Sumter, Talladega, Tallapoosa, and Tuscaloosa.
