I’ve wanted to try Daylight Donuts for a long time. Every time I drive by there are always cars at the drive-thru. That’s a good sign.

My father loved all things donuts. For his alone time, he would venture out to the corner store, coffee shop, diner, or whatever, for a cup of coffee and a donut. He did a whole thing where he dunked his donut in his coffee; so naturally, I picked up that habit as well.

The other day, I made it a point to check these donuts that have been in creation since 1954. According to Daylight Donuts, “Tommy and Lucille Day set out to create a new kind of donut mix — one with a distinctively light texture and flavor. The Day’s light donut recipe became Daylight Donuts.”

Here is where I would like to point out that I am a DONUT SNOB.

I love the whole vibe of Daylight Donuts. Currently, they are a drive-thru service only. I saw on the menu board that they had apple fritters, so I was thrilled because I love them.

The woman who greeted me was really nice and gave me the rundown on the sweet concoctions. Score.

Presentation:

I opted for the blueberry donut, donut holes, and apple fritter. I got three items because to use your credit card it must be at least a 3-dollar purchase. That made total sense to me.

They came in adorable Daylight Donut branded bags. Each donut was super cute, looked just like imagined, and was exactly how the woman described it.

Taste & Texture:

The blueberry donut was REALLY GOOD. It packed a punch with sweetness but the blueberry taste was very prominent. It had a little bit of a crisp edge on the top but was incredibly soft and moist. I would get this again.

On to the donut holes, there was nothing over the top about them but I did appreciate that it was not overly sweet.

I love apple fritters. Well, let me be honest, I adore them. Since it was on the menu and only a few left, I felt it was a sign. This highly sought-after item was saved for last.

OMG! This apple fritter was memorable.

I’m telling you it was OUTSTANDING. [Remember I’m a donut snob] The outer layer had a tiny bit of a crunch but the inside was poppin’ with tons of flavor. The glaze ratio was perfect.

Value:

Best deal in town. All the donuts I reviewed just cost me a little bit over 4 bucks.

Overall:

I’m so glad I stopped into Daylight Donuts. To be greeted with a smile and kindness along with some delicious donuts was a win in my “Bite This” book.
