Many people don’t know this about me, but I love racing… I’m not just talking about fast cars.  I mean RACING!

I used to street race… Well, my opponents didn’t know we were racing, but as soon as I got behind the wheel, my objectives in place of priority were to get to the place I was headed safely and to pass every car I could along the way. I’m laughing, but I’m serious. Thankfully, I’ve matured.

As I’ve gotten older, I’ve taken on new hobbies.  The COVID-19 shut-in have only added to that list.

A few days ago, I was invited to a trail ride and race in Columbus, MS on the day after Thanksgiving.  As an online shopper, I didn’t plan to do any Black Friday shopping anyway.  So, I told my cousin I might get out there with them.

Here’s what I didn’t tell him, though…. I’ve never driven an ATV! I know, I know.... I look good in that picture, kinda like a pro, right?

I mean, I’ve gotten on the back of one, but I’ve never driven one myself.  The sad thing is that my 9-year-old has!  So have my niece who’s the same age AND my 4-year-old nephew.  So, it can’t be that hard, right?

The only thing is I think I have a problem with discipline.  I think I’ll get out there and decide to drive through as much mud as I can find…. And enjoy it!  Then, I’ll be stuck with trying to find an ATV for myself and my daughter. I’ve already been considering getting her one since she likes riding so much.

Maybe getting one for myself isn’t such a bad idea. After all, I absolutely LOVE my family—immediate and extended.  This could be another area for us to bond.  Yep, I think I just convinced myself.  Looks like I’ll be giving myself an early Christmas gift.
