There are fewer things more rewarding than receiving honor from those who are close to you, and Bryant Bank has selected 10 students from Paul W. "Bear" Bryant High School to receive $5,000 scholarships.

Stated in a press release from Bryant Bank:

On Thursday, May 4, Bryant Bank awarded 10 Paul W. Bryant High Seniors the Paul W. Bryant, Jr. Scholarship at Senior Honors Night.  Each recipient was awarded a $5,000 scholarship to The University of Alabama. Anna Laurie Bryant McKibbens, Corporate Counsel and Assistant Secretary for Bryant Bank, presented the scholarships.

“The faculty and staff at Paul W. Bryant High School work diligently to help all students achieve success.  We continue to be reminded of this through their students’ commitment to taking that next step in life.  Once again, the school had a 100% placement rate for Seniors.  We take pride in contributing to that accomplishment,” said McKibbens.

The scholarship recipients were: Christopher David, Jakera Gavin, Sydney Hughes, Cristal Marshall, Alexis Martin, Sherry Merritt, Sparkle McCrary, Breonna Munford, Nicholas Patton and Alice Ponta.

As Chairman of Bryant Bank, Paul W. Bryant, Jr. established the scholarship in 2004; 129 students have received a total of $645,000 in scholarships since its inception.
It's a wonderful thing to see a community business pour back into the lives of area students.  Congratulations to all recipients, and kudos to Bryant Bank for putting its money where its mouth is.
