Last week, I shared a bit of how my vacation was spent and mentioned receiving a facial at Chancee's. After being asked a few times about that experience, I figured I might as well tell the full story.

As usual, when the door to Chancee's is opened, a very calming aroma met me and served as my first welcome. I signed in and met Colleen (the aesthetician) and filled out entrance paperwork. Of course, when it was time for me to go back, I was offered a bathroom visit (click here to see what that's all about), which I declined. When we got to the room where my services were to be performed, I undressed and prepared for my facial.

Under a special light, Colleen did a brief assessment of the state of my skin before applying anything to my face. I could feel the products she applied immediately begin to work. In my ignorance, I wasn't completely sure what "work" they were doing, but I could feel what I can only describe as little bubbles popping on my skin. It felt similar to oxidizing household cleansers.

Because I know that our fingertips are often dirty and oily, I tried to keep from touching my face after the facial. I didn't really want to counteract what had been done. So, I opted to just take a look in the mirror. Honestly, I saw no difference. I wondered if I'd been ripped off.

My little lady went with me this time. (And no, her nose isn't nasty. She fell at the pool a few days prior LOL.)

But WHOA-HO-HO!!! The next day....

My face looked like I was going through puberty all over again. Actually, it looked worse than it did during my teen years. I've never really had problematic skin, but I saw some skin irritation... Redness, small bumps, etc. I chalked it up to my skin releasing trapped toxins, as Colleen did explain that the products would continue to work over a few days and that I'd probably see some changes in my skin in the days following the facial. So, I forced myself to stay calm and wait it out.

I'm glad I did. After the day or two of awkwardness, my skin returned to its normal state but it felt even more supple and even. Areas that were normally dry weren't dry anymore. While usual oily spots were still smooth, they didn't feel as oily.

To say that Chancee's was winning me over would be an understatement. If I had any reservations about returning for any services, they went away on my next visit for another massage.

This time, Mary Kate was my therapist. Right now, she's pregnant. I immediately wondered if maternal instinct would come out during her massage, if it would be more "nurturing." Let me tell you..... That woman gave the most gentle yet firm massage ever. She was VERY thorough and attentive. When I saw thorough, I mean she massaged my face and all!  By the end of the massage, I was completely refreshed (But I also had to check and see if she's rubbed off my eyebrow! Yes, she massaged even my face.)!

Each time I've received services at Chancee's, I was told at the end, "Take your time getting dressed." Being completely honest, I feel like turning over and taking a nap. I go ahead and get dressed so as to not hold them up, but if I could rent that room for a good 15 minutes, I believe I could get some very quality sleep right then.

I left Chancee's yesterday already checking my calendar for the next time I'd want to return, as I've determined that a monthly visit is probably necessary.

(Side note: When I go for my visit, I usually wear my hair in a puff because they massage your scalp and everything!)
