Collin Sexton is Having a Career Year
Collin Sexton is quietly putting together his best season as a pro. At just 22-years old, Sexton is a rising star in this league.
The former Alabama guard has hit the 20-point mark in 11 straight games, which is the longest streak of his career. He has also had two separate 10-game streaks earlier this season. Sexton has only been held below the 50-percent shooting threshold three times over the last nine games.
Sexton is averaging a career-high in points per game, field goal percentage, steals and minutes played.
Sexton is one of five players this season that averages 24 points, four assists, one steal and shoot 48-percent from the field, 37-percent from three and 80-percent from the free throw line. The other four players on that list include Steph Curry, Kawhi Leonard, Nikola Jokic and Kyrie Irving.
This month, Sexton is averaging 26.4 points on 52.5-percent shooting and 38.2-percent from beyond the arc to go with 3.9 assists in 34.5 minutes. He has a true shooting percentage of 62.7.
The Cleveland Cavaliers have a young emerging backcourt with Sexton and Darius Garland. The tandem are combining to average 41.8 points per game and each of them are shooting at least 45% from the field.
“It’s really fun to play with Collin. That’s my guy. He’s grown into a brother just over two years,” Garland said. “It’s cool being out there with him and seeing all the stuff that he can do with the ball and even without the ball. He’s gonna go get it regardless. Anytime we need a bucket, we’re gonna go to him. Like I said, he’s gonna play hard for 48 minutes, he’s gonna do what he do. I’m just happy to share the floor with him and the rest of my teammates.”
The future remains bright in Cleveland with these two at the helm.
