DCH Health System Observes Donate Life Month by Honoring Organ Donors
National Donate Life Month is observed each April, highlighting the importance of organ donation and encouraging individuals to register as donors.

To mark the occasion, DCH Health hosted a flag-raising ceremony to recognize organ, eye, and tissue donors and promote awareness of the lifesaving impact of donation. In honor of this observance, the Donate Life flag will be displayed at all three DCH Health System hospitals throughout the month.
“In Alabama, more than 1,100 people are currently waiting for an organ transplant,” said the press release. “Nationally, more than 100,000 people are currently waiting for a lifesaving transplant, and a new person is added to the waiting list every 8–10 minutes.”
Although more than 2.2 million Alabamians are registered as organ donors, the demand for donations continues to exceed the available supply. As a result, awareness initiatives like these play a vital role in helping save lives.
