Disturbing Shadow in R. Kelly’s Alleged Captive’s Video; Was Joycelyn Savage’s Statement Coerced?
21-year old Joycelyn Savage, the woman whose family has alleged she is a captive of R&B star R. Kelly, came forward in a video late Monday (July 17) claiming she's where she wants to be and "in a happy place with my life." Savage was attempting to diffuse the firestorm swirling around Kelly in the wake of the accusations, but observers noticed what appears to be a person's shadow in Savage's video footage. And it's caused more concerns and questions about the woman's well-being.
In the footage, when Savage is asked about her whereabouts, she declines to answer. But when she's asked whether there are other "roommates" living with her, a shadow is visible against her sweater. The movements suggest someone waving her to say "No" just before she declines comment.
"No, I won't speak on that, as well," she says at the end of the video.
Several people who watched the video noticed that shadow and it calls into question her motivations for doing the video.
Earlier on Monday (July 17), BuzzFeed broke the story that the R&B star was holding women against their will in Atlanta and Chicago. Kelly issued a statement implying legal action may be taken against Savage's family.
“Mr. Robert Kelly is both alarmed and disturbed by the recent revelations attributed to him," a rep for the singer told TMZ via statement. "Mr. Kelly unequivocally denies such accusations and will work diligently and forcibly to pursue his accusers and clear his name.”
