Yesterday (April 12), actor, comedian and writer, Charlie Murphy passed away after a battle with leukemia, shocking many of his fans and colleagues.

Following news of his passing, Chance the Rapper, Ice Cube, Chris Rock, D.L. Hughley, Russell Simmons, Gabrielle Union and many more celebrities offered their condolences and fondly remembered Charlie for his humorous, genuine spirit.

Charlie's younger brother, Eddie Murphy has offered a statement on behalf of the family, thanking everyone for their support and asking for privacy to grieve the tragic loss.

“Our hearts are heavy with the loss today of our son, brother, father, uncle, and friend Charlie," the statement reads, via EW. "Charlie filled our family with love and laughter, and there won’t be a day that goes by that his presence will not be missed. Thank you for the outpouring of condolences and prayers. We respectfully ask for privacy during this time of great loss for all of us.”

Certainly, Charlie will be missed and his legacy will live on through his work.
