Eight Killed on MS Highway That Leads to Philadelphia

A Mississippi Highway Patrol spokesperson says a wreck on Mississippi Highway 16, east of Scooba, has killed eight people.

In recent months, I’ve come to know this stretch of highway all too well, as it’s the route I take to Pearl River Resort.  That’s my little place of escape when I need a vacation but don’t really have the time (or money) to take a full, extensive break. Read about that here.

Admittedly, I have something of a heavy foot.  I’ve been tempted to go around a slower moving vehicle more often than I’d like to admit.  However, I always make sure I can see far enough to make the move safely; and I don’t drive like a maniac when my daughter is with me.  I make it a point to never let her see me do anything I don’t want her to do.

It is said that a Penske box truck and a passenger van collided head-on.  It is still unclear exactly how the accident happened; but those who travel rural routes, let this serve as a reminder to US that safety is the FIRST priority.
