Former 5-star Alabama Player Getting a Last Chance
Antonio Alfano, who committed to Alabama as the No. 5 overall player in the 2019 recruiting class, has been on the move quite a lot the last couple of years.
After things didn't work out for Alfano in Tuscaloosa, he decided to transfer to Colorado to get a change of scenery.
Alfano didn't see the field as a member of the Buffalos in 2020 and not long after he arrived, he was suspended indefinitely by head coach Karl Dorrell for violation of team rules.
On Wednesday he announced that he would be transferring to Independence Community College in Kansas.
Some of you may be familiar with ICC because they were featured for a couple of seasons on the Netflix show "LastChanceU".
Many players have parlayed their time at JUCO into successful college football careers.
The Pirates themselves are no stranger to producing NFL-caliber players, former running back Rakeem Boyd had 2,176 yards and 13 touchdowns as a member of the Arkansas Razorbacks.
Boyd is projected by many draft analysts to be a mid-round pick for the 2021 NFL Draft, showing that time spent at ICC can be beneficial in the long run.
This years ICC team won their first game of the season 31-24 against Butler Community College and will play at Fort Scott Community College this Saturday.
It's unclear as to when Alfano will get his first snap as a member of the ICC Pirates, but he certainly has the physcial tools in his arsenal to be dominant.
Brian Dohn of 24/7Sports had this to say when speaking about Alfano.
"Plays with good leverage with an explosive first step. Has violent hands and aggressive mentality. Has the temperament you want on the defensive line. Highly competitive. Physical tackler through the ball carrier. Possesses elite edge athleticism and freakish combine testing numbers."
