Free Diabetes Prevention Classes
Free Diabetes Prevention Classes
I have been trying my best to keep my health in check. Diabetes is something that I am terrified of, but the more I am informed, the better I feel about being proactive in fighting off diabetes. I’ve been on my own journey on my health and trying to stay focused on weight loss, work/life balance, and enjoying life. So, I am always on the lookout for help and guidance. On Facebook, I found a great FREE Diabetes Prevention Class hosted by Whatley Health Services. It is today, Tuesday, June 30, 2020, from 5:30 pm until 6:30 pm. According to the American Diabetes Association, “In 2018, 34.2 million Americans, or 10.5% of the population, had diabetes.” Also, “Of the 34.2 million adults with diabetes, 26.8 million were diagnosed, and 7.3 million were undiagnosed.” That’s the part that is alarming to me is the undiagnosed cases. In the FREE Diabetes Prevention Class, Whatley Health Services notes that they will cover “About the classes, What is prediabetes, How can prediabetes affect me?, “What changes can I make?, and more.” Also, the Facebook event, it notes that “social distancing will be practiced and everyone is encouraged to wear a mask of facial covering.” Also, the American Diabetes Association suggests that “along with your diet and medications, regular physical activity is an important part of managing diabetes or dealing with prediabetes. Because when you’re active, your cells become more sensitive to insulin, so it works more effectively. And you just feel better. And look better.” And I am here for all of that!
