Group for Senior Women to Hold Weekend Event at the Levee
Let's face it: with life's responsibilities, sometimes our social lives have to take a backseat. At some point (usually around retirement), we go back to rediscover our social lives; and it CAN be hard.
One local community activist is working to change this.
Dr. Elogene Hughes presents "Elogene's Elegance," described as an innovative methodology designed to benefit aging senior women age 50+. This FREE gathering will be held at the Levee in downtown Northport on Sunday, March 10 from 2 p.m. until 5 p.m. and will feature food and fun, including line dancing, group and solo dancing, singing, and modeling. Dr. Hughes (affectionately known as "the hat lady") plans to display a comedic side as she models hats of all shapes and sizes.
Special guest James Meredith will make an appearance. Meredith is a Civil Rights Movement figure, writer, political adviser, and Air Force veteran.
The Mistress of Ceremony will be Luann Baker, Director of Institutional Advancement at Stillman College.
