HBCU Alumni – Stronger Together Standing United
HBCU Alumni - Stronger Together Standing United
What I witnessed on HBCU Bound day a few weeks ago is that we are stronger together and standing united as HBCU Alumni. I was super excited to join Stillman College that day because of how they were empowering incoming students even during this COVID-19 pandemic. As a proud graduate of Bethune-Cookman (College) now University, I feel it is vital that we unite as alumni to help support various HBCU efforts as Stillman did on HBCU Bound day. I am calling out all alumni in Alabama to join the HBCU Alumni United Facebook page because it “is to help support networking among alumni to foster collaboration across the county and ultimately to build a community to help support these valued institutions of higher learning.”
I know there are tons of alumni in West Alabama from great institutions like Alabama A&M University, Alabama State University, Bishop State Community College, Gadsden State Community College, H Council Trenholm State Community College, J F Drake State Community & Technical College, Lawson State Community College Birmingham, Miles College, Oakwood University, Talladega College, Tuskegee University, Shelton State Community College, and Stillman College. Why is this important, well I went to the source, Anthony H. Brown, who is one of the page administrators. He also is the President of the National Alumni Council of the UNCF. He felt that “building on the excitement of the recent HBCU Bound day was important because it allowed for alumni to connect virtually amid COVID-19, and we recognize that there is power through networking.”
