All over social media over the weekend were tributes to mothers, grandmothers, adoptive mothers, etc. My weekend was so busy, I didn't really have a chance to make one of my own. So, here goes.

For me, Mother's Day began Saturday morning.  My brother and his wife treated her sister, her mother, our mom, our sister and me to a brunch at Another Broken Egg.  As usual, the food was really good, but it came second to the great company.  When we're together, we always have a laughter-filled good time!

I didn't get to stay the entire the time the family was there because I had to rush off to University Mall for the Mother-Daughter Lookalike Contest.

At the mall, 25 sets of mothers and their daughters met at the mall's center court for the contest.  Some were dressed alike.  Others wore clothing that was similar but not the quite the same, and some didn't dress alike at all but their faces were so much alike the outfits weren't necessary.  I was both in awe and jealous because my child only looks like me on certain days, and this was NOT one of those days.

The competition was so stiff that out of 25, the judges called 9 sets back to the stage to look again before narrowing down to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners.

After the winners were announced, I went and picked up my mom's gift, helped my daughter make Mother's Day cards for my mom, her other grandmother, my grandmother, and her godmother, and prepared to join her for Mercedes' Family Day at the Tuscaloosa Amphitheater.

I got there just in time to hear Just a Few Cats and Alvin Garrett perform. AWESOME BAND!   Then, I found my sister and brother, who had my daughter.  I took her to some of the children's activities that she hadn't already done with my sister and brother (whose daughter is the same age as mine). Once the girls got their faces painted and enjoyed their snow cones, we grabbed some food and went to take our seats to see Earth Wind and Fire perform. As usual, their performance was awesome.

EWF at the Tuscaloosa Amphitheater[/caption]If you've never seen Earth, Wind, and Fire's show, make plans to attend the next time they're anywhere close.  I could watch Verdine White the entire show.  He was just as active at 63-year-old as he was the last time I saw them, which is when he was about 55. As EWF finished their final song, fireworks began.  We sat and watched the display until the grand finale.  It was indeed a grand finale to a full day for me.

I woke up Sunday to 42 text messages.  By the time I finished preparing for church, my battery already was down to 20% because of all the vibrations.

After church, I went to visit a friend who was in town before grabbing a bite to eat. Once we finished eating (and watching the Bulls lose), we went to visit our grandmother and gave her the spa gift certificate we'd gotten. Then, we went to our mom's to give her the gifts we'd gotten her. NOTHING compared to seeing my mom burst into tears because she thought we'd forgotten about her when we'd in fact gotten her exactly what she wanted without telling us she wanted it.

My older brother and I sat and talked with our mom for about an hour.  By the time I got home, it was time to prepare for today. So, I had a FULL weekend of activities, and loved every minute of it!
