Salt-N-Pepa, Coolio + More Set for New ‘I Love the 90s’ Tour Dates
The ‘90s are back - or at least, ‘90s kids are now a desirable demographic - and what better way to celebrate than with an evening of the biggest rap hits from that decade?
The latest edition of the I Love the ‘90s Tour offers just such an evening to fans of iconic acts from the decade such as Salt-N-Pepa with Spinderella, Vanilla Ice, All-4-One, Color Me Badd, Coolio, Tone Loc, Rob Base and Young MC.
“[T]imeless music is timeless music,” Salt, of Salt-N-Pepa, told The Morning Call. “And people show up …The music draws the people and it’s good music. And it’s a great show.”
Fans who fill their playlists with such ‘90s hits as “Let’s Talk About Sex,” “Shoop,” “Ice, Ice Baby,” “I Wanna Sex You Up,” “Just A Friend,” and “I Swear” will have plenty to look forward to on this tour.
Listen to Salt-N-Pepa Perform 'Shoop'
Playing with so many of her peers at this stage of her life (she’s 52) compels Salt to consider how far she, Pepa and Spinderella have come from their early days of performing.
“[W]e’re unique in a lot of ways,” she said. “... Pepa and I were friends before the group started, so we actually have an amazing chemistry. We are the Yin and the Yang.
“... And I think we came along at a time when female rappers weren’t really having that much commercial success,” she continued, “and we brought fun, fashion and femininity to hip-hop. We dressed like girls, we acted like girls. … And I think that we just appealed to a broader audience, and especially made an impact on ... the lives of women. And they tell us that all the time.”
