I Remember The Day The President Was Assassinated
It was 50 years ago today. I was in the 3rd grade at Booker T. Washington Elementary School in Chattanooga TN. I will never forget it. It was a few minutes after lunch when the Principal entered the room and ask for our attention and announced that President John F Kennedy had been assassinated.
I remember a classmate asking what that meant. I was glad she asked because I didn’t know either. We all just set there we knew it wasn’t good but we had no idea how bad it was.
I remember class consisted of watching the coverage until the Thanksgiving break.
When we returned to school from our Thanksgiving break we had to write a story about the assassination of President John F. Kennedy. I remember writing in my story that Walter Cronkite was on TV crying because the President had been assassinated.
Unless you have been hiding under a rock you have noticed all the specials and documentaries airing this month. In case you have been looking for a particular special and missed it here’s list of when they will air again.
