If You Love Peanut Butter And Jelly, Today Is Your Day

Today is a day for all PB&J lovers because it is National Peanut Butter and Jelly Day.  I love peanut butter and jelly sandwiches.  Do you use a spoon or knife?  What kind of jelly?  So many variations you can create.  According to the National Peanut Board, “In 1901, the first peanut butter and jelly sandwich recipe appeared in the Boston Cooking School Magazine of Culinary Science and Domestic Economics written by Julia Davis Chandler.”  Apparently, the major event that took PB&J to the next level was World War II because “peanut butter and jelly were on the U.S. Military ration menus in World War II. Peanut butter was a high-protein, shelf-stable ingredient and easily portable on long marches.”
