Alabama Flips Four Star Athlete From Texas

Merry Flipmas! Alabama has held on to its recruits on Early Signing Day and had its eyes on recruits from other schools. Four-star athlete Areyn Hampton has flipped his commitment from the Texas Longhorns to the Alabama Crimson Tide.

Hampton had been a wildcard his entire recruitment, but the Crimson Tide have stayed consistent and pursued him down the stretch, with the smoke around a flip coming just a couple of days before Early Signing Day. Hampton has not officially visited Alabama since June, but that did not stop Coach Saban and his staff from flipping the top-10 prospect as an athlete.

Hampton, a four-star two-sport athlete from Daingerfield High School in Daingerfield, Texas, totaled 2,190 receiving yards, 327 rushing yards, 32 total touchdowns, 148 tackles,18 picks, 10 for touchdowns, nine tackles for loss, three forced fumbles, three fumble recoveries, and 11 pass breakups during 2021 and 2022 in Daingerfield.

Hampton could see a similar role to that of Kendrick Law, who is a gadget player for the Crimson Tide, lining up as a wide receiver, in the backfield, and it was inspired by how the San Francisco 49ers used Deebo Samuel last season.

The flip is a major one, as Texas has a lot of momentum in college football. After beating the Crimson Tide in week 2, the Longhorns won the Big 12 and made the College Football Playoff for the first time before heading to the SEC next season.

Coach Saban's recruiting prowess helped him beat out his former assistant for the top 50 recruit from the state of Texas.
