Alabama backup quarterback Ty Simpson will not enter the transfer portal, according to reports. He is not expected to explore any options in the transfer portal. Simpson was the backup quarterback to Jalen Milroe after Milroe won the starting quarterback battle in the Fall of 2023.

Simpson was a five-star quarterback out of Westview High School in Martin, Tennessee in the 2021 recruiting class. he was ranked as the No. 29 overall prospect, and the No. 4 overall quarterback in that class.

Simpson has yet to record a start at Alabama but has played sparingly and in mop duty during his two seasons with the Crimson Tide. During his time at Alabama, Simpson has recorded 214 passing yards and no passing touchdowns. He recorded 86 rushing yards and two rushing touchdowns during the 2023 season, one in the Tide's sloppy win at USF, where Simpson came off the bench and won the game for Alabama, and one in mop-up duty against Chattanooga.

Alabama offensive coordinator Nick Sheridan was quoted on The Game with Ryan Fowler last week saying, "Ty has had a really good spring."
