TUSCALOOSA, Ala. -- New Kentucky starting quarterback Kenny Minchey showcased what he brings to the table in the Wildcats' 45-13 victory over Youngstown State on Saturday, completing 66.7% of his passes for 301 yards and four touchdowns.

However, there isn't much film on the Wildcats' signal caller. He served as Notre Dame's backup quarterback from 2023 to 2025, with just 28 career passing attempts and nine rushing attempts over his first three seasons.

Despite the lack of film, Alabama defensive back Bray Hubbard has already watched the film on the Wildcats' quarterback, with a handful of takeaways on the 6-foot-2, 211-pound Tennessee native.

"He's a great player," Alabama defensive back Bray Hubbard told reporters on Tuesday. "He did a good job at Notre Dame; I think he was fighting for the job there and was the backup. But when you watch the tape from Notre Dame, he can spin it.

"Even last week, watching their game (against Youngstown State), he's got great arm strength, accuracy; he knows the system, plays in the system well. He's got a great front in front of him. Tight ends are great, receivers are great; he's just a really good quarterback."

Minchey entered the transfer portal from Notre Dame in December and originally committed to Matt Rhule and Nebraska in January before flipping his commitment to Will Stein and Kentucky just a day later.

No. 12 Alabama (1-0) will face Kentucky (1-0) on Saturday, September 12, at Kroger Field in Lexington, Kentucky.
