BREAKING: 5-Star WR Re-Commits to Alabama

After the flurry of negative news following the retirement of former head coach Nick Saban, Alabama fans were ready to jump into the Black Warrior River.

Among the fanbase, one of the biggest concerns with Kalen DeBoer was his ability or inability to recruit elite-level talent in the southeast. It's safe to say, that won't be a concern anymore.

Similar to how Nick Saban landed a commitment from Julio Jones to lay the foundation of his program at Alabama, Kalen DeBoer lands his Julio. Five-star wide receiver Ryan Williams has re-committed to the University of Alabama.

Williams reclassified from 2025 to the 2024 recruiting class in December last year and appeared to be all Alabama when he played in the AHSAA 6A State Championship game in Bryant-Denny Stadium. Williams de-committed from Alabama the night Saban retired.

New Crimson Tide head coach Kalen DeBoer immediately went to work on the elite talent from Saraland, Alabama as soon as the wheels hit the tarmac on that Friday night. Williams has been to Alabama twice times since Coach DeBoer was hired. The first was an unofficial visit in the middle of the week. The second was a three-day visit where Williams and his family spent time taking pictures, hanging out around Tuscaloosa, and getting to know the new staff, including offensive coordinator Ryan Grubb and wide receivers coach JaMarcus Shephard.

Williams led the Saraland Spartans to a state championship win as a sophomore in 2022, he then led them to another appearance in 2023. Williams had four total touchdowns in the game, but Crimson Tide signee Jaylen Mbakwe led Clay-Chalkville to a win over the Spartans.

Williams won Alabama Gatorade Player of the Year twice and is a top-five prospect in the 2024 recruiting class according to some models.

Williams joins a wide receiver room already stacked with talent with Jalen Hale, Kobe Prentice, and Kendrick Law, among others. With the departures of Jermaine Burton to the NFL and Isaiah Bond to Texas, Williams could compete for early playing time with the Crimson Tide.
