Ex-Alabama WR Inks Major NIL Deal
NIL is unregulated in college football, and athletes are beginning to take advantage of the opportunities that have been presented to them.
Players on the Crimson Tide have earned brand deals with car dealerships, with Ty Simpson having a brand deal with Harbin Automotive. Now, a former Alabama wide receiver and another Texas Longhorn are cashing in as well.
Former Alabama wide receiver Isaiah Bond has inked an NIL deal with Lamborghini in Austin, it was announced on Thursday.
Taaffe is a fourth-year defensive back on the Longhorns roster. He's started 10 games in his career in Austin.
Bond transferred to Texas after two seasons at Alabama. Bond recorded 48 catches for 668 yards and four touchdowns in 2023 as the second receiving threat for Alabama. He was slated to be the top option in 2024 before transferring to Texas after Nick Saban retired.
The 4th-and-31 Iron Bowl hero quickly lost favor in the eyes of the Crimson Tide fanbase after his transfer from the program.
“The Lamborghini Austin Promotional Partner Program rewards student-athletes for success in the classroom, contributions to their community, and performance in sports,” Bruce Knox, managing partner of Lamborghini Austin, said in a release.
“Our committee selected two outstanding student-athletes who took a unique path on their University of Texas journey, who achieved success in the classroom as well as on the field, and who will join forces to lead the Longhorns in their first year of competition in the SEC.”
