Hillcrest falls victim to Thompson, Trent Seaborn 56-10
Hillcrest came into tonight 5-2 with a chance to make their presence felt in the ranks of Alabama 7a football. The problem is, not many teams successfully use the Thompson Warriors as their statement game. Thompson High School is led by top-ten QB Trent Seaborn, who was the 2023 MaxPreps National Freshman of the Year. If you wanted a full display of elite quarterback play, this was the game to watch.
Thompson scored on their first four drives of the game, while Hillcrest could only amass a field goal during that time. By the time the Patriots found the end zone, they were already down 28-3, with a QB sneak from junior Jordan Shambley cutting the lead to 18. That was the closest this ballgame would be for the rest of the night.

After the sneak by Shambley, Hillcrest, in an attempt to gain some momentum heading into the half, tried an onside kick with around three minutes left in the first half. Thompson would score once again before the half, bringing the score to 35-10 going into the locker room.
It was more of the same during the second half, although with limited scoring as both coaches agreed to a running clock about halfway through the third quarter.
Hillcrest will look to stay alive in the 7a ranks next week with a matchup at home against Prattville, while Thompson, who moved to 6-2 on the season, will head to Hoover in what should be an absolute clash of Alabama high school powerhouses.
For those reading with a rooting interest in the Alabama Crimson Tide, keep an eye out for star quarterback Trent Seaborn. He currently holds an offer from the Tide along with several other national powerhouses.
