Alabama Sophomore Guard Wins SEC Player of the Week
The Crimson Tide men's basketball team took home a weekly honor after going 2-0 last week in conference play last week, with star sophomore guard Labaron Philon winning SEC Player of the Week from the Southeastern Conference.

Philon, a 6-foot-4, 185-pound sophomore guard from Mobile, Alabama, was crucial in Alabama's efforts in a 100-97 win over Texas A&M on Wednesday and a 96-92 victory over the Auburn Tigers on Saturday.
Against the Aggies, Philon scored 17 points, collected four rebounds, tallied three assists, and had two steals in 36 minutes of play to lead Alabama to victory. He shot 7-13 from the floor and 3-7 from three-point range in the victory.
Against the Auburn Tigers in the first edition of the Iron Bowl of Basketball this season, this one played in Neville Arena in Auburn, Alabama, Philon scored a team-leading 25 points, collected five rebounds, tallied six assists, had two blocks, and one steal in 33 minutes played against Auburn. He shot 7-15 from the floor and 3-6 from three-point range in the four-point victory on the road.
This week's SEC Player of the Week honor was Philon's fourth of his career, and he is the only player in the SEC to win the award more than three times. Philon has scored double figures in every game this season, ranking first in the SEC in scoring (21.5 points per game) and No. 10 in Division I.
Alabama's next game will come on the road at Ole Miss on Wednesday, February 11.
