Alabama Center Talks Holding Penalty and Communication

TUSCALOOSA, Ala.- Alabama starting center Racin Delgatty spoke with the media Tuesday morning ahead of Alabama's week two matchup with the Kentucky Wildcats. Delgatty spoke about the communication and cohesiveness with the offensive line after an offseason that surrounded the Tide with questions and concerns.

In his response to being asked about the communication amongst the offensive line, Delgatty said: "I thought it was really good for the first game. There's some parts where we could have been better, but we will learn from it and get better." Delgatty also spoke about his holding penalty in the third quarter that negated what would have been a 68-yard rushing touchdown for freshman running back Trae'Shawn Brown, stating, " I mean everyone's seen it, everyone knows that it was BS, even the coaches right after it said don't worry about it, that was not a good call."

Delgatty received praise from OC Ryan Grubb yesterday in his press conference, where Grubb highlighted his communication and play at the center position during the Tide's 48-10 win over the East Carolina Pirates last Saturday.

Delgatty also commented on the scramble drills and running ability of QB Keelon Russell, stating, "You have to block longer, but with Keelon in the pocket you don't know where he is; you always have to strain to finish."

Alabama travels to Lexington, Kentucky, this Saturday at 2:30 pm CST to take on the Wildcats in its first game in SEC play of the 2026 season.
