Media outlet the Bama Standard posted about the news, with show host and writer Justin Riley providing details. "His former teammate and Alabama All-American offensive lineman Wesley Britt delivered the devastating news," wrote Riley.

Hudson was a running back for the Crimson Tide for the 2004-2005 season. He experienced a knee injury near the end of that season, but is perhaps more well-known for his lawsuit against the NCAA for more serious incidents.

In 2014, Hudson sued the National Collegiate Athletic Association. He told Al.com at the time that he felt depressed, struggled with anger management, forgot names, experienced dizziness and more symptoms. (The NCAA went on to settle a class-action concussion lawsuit in 2016.)

Despite such health struggles, Hudson is still remembered fondly by friends, family and fans.

He was only 42.
