Alabama Guard Wins SEC Weekly Honor, Earns Praise from Head Coach Nate Oats
Alabama men's basketball guard Latrell Wrightsell Jr. earned weekly honors from the Southeastern Conference following a strong week, helping lead Alabama to a 2-0 record last week, securing a double bye in the SEC tournament next week. Wrightsell was named Co-Player of the Week by the SEC after scoring 18 points on Wednesday against Mississippi State and a team-leading 25 on the road against Tennessee.

On Wednesday night, Alabama defeated Mississippi State 100-75, where Wrightsell scored the second-most points for the Crimson Tide with his 18 points on 29 minutes played. He shot 5-13 from the floor and 4-10 from three-point range, while also hauling in six rebounds and contributing five assists. Wrightsell also accounted for two steals in the victory over the Bulldogs.
Against Tennessee, Wrightsell was near-unconscious from three-point range, scoring a team-leading 25 points on 6-9 shooting from three-point range. Wrightsell also shot 8-12 from the floor and 3-4 from the free-throw line, while hauling in two rebounds, contributing one assist, and making one steal in the Tide's 71-69 comeback victory over the Volunteers.
Wrightsell has now scored double-digit points in 15 of the Tide's 29 games this season, with four games of 20+ points. His 25 against the Volunteers was the most he's scored this season for Alabama, and the most he's scored in his three-year career with the Crimson Tide, surpassing his previous high of 21 that he scored against LSU in 2021 and Arizona, Missouri, and Ole Miss during the 2025-2026 season.
Wrightsell is playing the best ball of his three seasons with Alabama, averaging 13.3 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 2.1 assists per game on 27.2 minutes per game.
