Alabama LB Yhonzae Pierre Discusses his Game-Sealing Strip Sack in Win Over LSU
Following Alabama's 20-9 win over LSU on Saturday, the Crimson Tide's Wolf Linebacker Yhonzae Pierre spoke with the media, where he touched on his game-sealing strip sack late in the fourth quarter of the Crimson Tide's 11-point victory.

Pierre played a massive part in the Crimson Tide's incredible defense performance against the Tigers, which saw Alabama hold LSU to zero touchdowns while forcing all nine of their points to come from field goals, holding the Tigers to 232 total yards, and holding them to only 59 rushing yards while forcing two turnovers and forcing LSU to go 5-14 on third downs.
The Alabama linebacker for the Tide recorded two solo tackles in their 11-point victory, with both tackles being sacks. One of these sacks was particularly pivotal, as it was a game-sealing strip sack, marking his sixth sack of the season and his fifth in the last three games. Additionally, this play resulted in his second forced fumble of the season.
Pierre was asked about his strip sack and how significant it was for him to make such a crucial play that ultimately secured the game for his team. He responded, "It just felt good doing my part for the defense, you know, for my teammates. We still have more to come."
When asked about the recent success of their defense, which has kept every team they have faced since their season-opening loss to Florida State under 24 points, Pierre responded, "I mean, we still have to play as our best as a team and defense, because honestly, we've got more to come." The Crimson Tide is scheduled to play two more conference games before the end of November against a high-powered Oklahoma offense led by John Mateer, as well as a scrappy Auburn team that showed improvement this weekend against Vanderbilt.
Alabama will improve to 8-1 for the season and 6-0 in SEC play as they secure their eighth consecutive victory on Saturday. They will aim to finish the season strong, looking to avenge last season’s 24-3 loss to Oklahoma. Next Saturday, November 15th, they will host the Sooners at Bryant-Denny Stadium.
