Alabama’s Weather Outlook for November

Some Alabamians have enjoyed the cold snap over the past few days. However, the Yellowhammer State is still under concerning drought conditions.

Remember that in November, hurricane season lasts until the end of the month plus our attention turns to Fall severe weather season.

For November, The Weather Channel is projecting that most of the United States will feel the impacts of near to or above-average temperatures. Oddly, the areas that should experience these above-average November temperatures will be the same locations that have already received cold weather and even snow.

The Climate Prediction Center places most of the Yellowhammer State except the far Northern areas under a 33-40% chance of above-normal temperatures.

Drought Alert: Perhaps Some Good News Is on the Way

In hopeful weather news, the precipitation outlook for November is shaping up to be near-average amounts. This brings good news to areas in the South and Southeast that are under drought conditions, said The Weather Channel.

But, How Much Rain for Alabama?

The short answer is probably not enough.

James Spann, ABC 33/40, and Townsquare Media Tuscaloosa Chief Meteorologist said that “while rain Friday/Saturday will be mostly likely be 1/2 inch or less, a more meaningful rain event is likely during the following week. Rain amounts of 1-2 inches are likely across most of Alabama in the November 9-18 time frame.”

When it comes to the precipitation outlook for Alabama, the Northern tier has under 33-40% chance of leaning below average while the remainder of the state is at equal chances, according to the Climate Prediction Center.
